Posted on January 1, 2012

Video Games by Lana Del ReyI have been hearing this record on French radioTitanium HQ - David Guetta. Read more ... » for a few weeks now on and off. I wasn’t sure who the singer was so had to search the Internet to find the lyrics as I wasn’t sure of the title either. So it has been another Inspector Clouseau job, but once again well worth the effort. Why? Because I love the song and the haunting element to the sounds she creates.

So who is Lana Del Rey and why haven’t I heard of her before? The answer to the first question is straight forward, she is Elizabeth (Lizzie) Grant and was actually born in New York, Lana Del Rey is her stage name. So that’s who she is answered. Actually the answer to the second question is fairly easy as well, because Video Games is her début single and being buried in the deepest part of the South of France, it took a little while for me to first of all tune into it and secondly decide I needed to search for the song so I could feature it here. Funny thing is I found this video of her performing on the Jools HollandThe Ting Tings - That's Not My Name. That said, now I have tuned in I am happy to report that her first album, well actually its not strictly her first album, because there was one called ‘Lana Del Rey’ that existed for a brief period on iTunes(now no longer available), before this new one Born to Die which is set to be released on January 27, 2012 in Ireland, but is available on amazon.com for pre-order. Think I need to add it to a wish list or something, because I have a feeling I am going to love this album.

There isn’t much more I can tell you about Lana at this stage other than you can download some tracks from the Lana Del Rey MP3 Music Store ahead of her new albumMusic for You - Katie Melua's Flood. Oh and the other thing is she is telling the world is that she is a ‘gangsta Nancy Sinatra’ and she defines her genre as ‘Hollywood pop/ sadcore’, not a bad description really. Hope you enjoy the video.
