Number 1 Top Ten CD – Iron Man2 by AC/DC

Posted on May 5, 2010

It just goes to show how inextricably linked the film business and the music industry are. As I write this, the top ten CD today is AC/DC’s Iron Man and the promotional video for Iron Man 2 featuring AC/DC performing Highway to Hell can be accessed via this link.

AC/DC have been around for as long as I can remember, not surprising really as they first formed back in 1973 the year before I left school. Got to admit this is one band that I haven’t really gotten into in a big way, I listen to some of their stuff occasionally but I have never personally been moved enough by them to actually buy anything they have released

I suppose I have to admit,  if they have been around since 1973 and are still getting to the number 1Blurred Lines Featuring Robin Thicke & Pharrell Williams. Read more ... » top ten cd list, then I might just have got this one wrong.  The reviews I have read on this album range from ‘a nice collection of tunes all on one CD’ to ‘I am not really an ardent AC/DC fan but have most of their albums’; work that one out!!! Not exactly waxing lyrical are they, and why buy all their albums if you are not an ardent fan, I could understand one maybe .

To be honest I think that it really is the film that is the main attraction here, and that it is providing some great pulling power for AC/DC. The promotional video is pretty good, mainly for the Iron Man action, but I can’t help thinking the band are just a load of scruffy old gits in shorts having a good jam and enjoying the attention the film has given them. Well I am not going to admit I was wrong, am I?

Here is the Ironman 2 trailer, which has already been viewed over 8 million times, guess that sort of publicity can help out any band a little bit:
