Lady Gaga – Poker Face

Posted on August 01, 2010

Don’t need to say a lot more, it had to happen eventually, you just can’t ignore great music like this. Poker Face was the first Lady Gaga track that caught my attention and after that I was just completely hooked on the Gaga. Brilliant music by a brilliant artist.

I have noticed that some of the most popular videos are almost like mini feature films. But personally I just like to listen to the music, can’t be doing with all that story telling garbage. So here it 3.5 minutes of pure music and Lady Gaga performing one of her, in my opinion, best tracks.

So who is Lady Gaga, her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta and she is a 24 year old (at the time of writing) music phenomenen. Right now she is probably the most popular musical talent on the planet and there are lots of other stars queueing up to tap into her fame by getting involved with her music one way or another. The other amazing musical talent that has recorded some videos and tracks with her is none other than Beyonce. Lets face it, that is a pretty powerful duet right there.

Her first album was ‘Fame’ but the album I and most of the planet seem to like the best is ‘The Fame Monster’ which has some incredible music on it.

Tracy Chapman, Baby Can I Hold You Tonight

Posted on July 18, 2010

I was doing a bit of stumbling and I came across Tracy Chapman singing ‘Fast Car’ which I have to say is an amazing track and reminded me just how good she is. So I decided to have a look at some of her other stuff and found ‘Baby Can I Hold You Tonight’ which is another brilliant track. Now that is too much of a coincidence to be just luck. No there is definitely some serious talent wrapped up in the package that is ‘Tracy Chapman’.

She was born in Cleveland and went to ‘Tufts’ University where she got a Bachelor of Arts degree but later was given an honorary doctorate in Fine Arts. She is pretty private, preferring to keep her working life and private life separate, but she does do a lot of charity work and now lives in San Francisco.

Both the tracks I have discussed here can be found on the album Tracy Chapman along with some other great music including ‘Talking Bout a Revolution’, all of which you can find listed below.

You might also find that you are interested in Tracy Chapman’s Matters of the Heart album which has received some pretty good reviews, although it is a marked step away from her ‘Fast Car’ and ‘Baby Can I Hold You Tonight’ sound. Some think this album is more sophisticated and better produced, but I guess the only way to find out is to listen to it and see what you think.

Enjoy the video, it is a great sound and makes it pretty obvious why she is held in such high regard.
