Pink Floyd Money – The Original Version

Posted on January 17, 2011

OK first let me apologise for my recent lack of activity, problem with being a lone blogger is that when you are not available then all proceedings grind to a halt. I won’t bore you with the reasons why but I hope that you like this latest blast from the past and forgive my absence.

As classics go they don’t get much bigger than Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon and one of my favourite tracks from this brilliant album is ‘Money’. I think I have been listening to this amazing Pink Floyd album for what must be getting on for 35 years and I never get tired of it. Hence my ‘classic’ comment, time is the true test of a classic. If you listen to the lyrics of Pinks Floyd’s ‘Money’ I think you will agree they are as current today as they were when it was released way back in 1973 when I was still at school.

It’s distinctive because it opens with the sounds of coins clinking and a cash register, so as far as name that tune goes, no one should have any trouble with this one. Here’s the video……..

Pink Floyd were a bit of a slow burn for me, I didn’t really appreciate just how good they were straight away and it probably took me a couple of years to think that the Dark Side of the Moon was worth a dip into the hard earned pocket money. I still have that original vinyl album tucked away somewhere, may even be worth more now than what I originally paid for it, not that I can remember. But that is a bit academic as I have had no inclination to sell any of my vinyl LP’s.

I went for the original version of the video because when you search on YouTube you get mostly recent performances with most of the band looking older than me. Not that they don’t perform it just as well if not better, certainly the video quality (via this link) is much better, but if you are doing a Pink Floyd blast from the past you want it to be from the past, well I do. Hope you enjoy it, I did.
