Sandie Shaw – Always Something There To Remind Me (1969)

Posted on January 22, 2012

It was a bit strange playing this first video as Sandie Shaw was introduced by the late Sir Jimmy Saville when he was one of the resident DJ’s on Top of the Pops way back in the 60’s. He almost looked normal, well apart from his trademark bleached blonde hair, mingling with the crowds back then. But it was the start of the seventies and normal wasn’t really normal during that decade. A bit unfortunate then that the video cuts short, so I have had to put another, full length, version on for Sandie Shaw fans who are keen to see the whole performance. That is the full size video below.

Poor old Jimmy may have given up the ghost, but Sandie Shaw certainly hasn’t and I have seen a couple of recent performances from her on UK TV where you might be forgiven for thinking it was a recording from the seventies, both for the quality of the performance and the appearance of our Sandie, who really didn’t look a lot different. But then I am knocking on a bit now, so the eyesight could be failing a bit.

Anyway, it is another 60’s classic and a wonderful record, it wasn’t all bad in the 60’s and 70’s clearly. Hope you enjoy it.
